Stylish Illustrations by Chris Gall

Chris Gall has been drawing pictures and writing stories for as long as he can remember. When he was caught drawing pictures on his desk in second grade, his teacher made him clean all the desks in the classroom. She suggested that he might be an artist someday. He won a Read Magazine Young Writer's Award in 7th grade, and that inspired him to write stories to go with his art.

In college he decided to become an illustrator for a living and he has been creating artwork ever since. His artwork has been seen in almost every publication in America, including Time, Newsweek, People, Fortune, The New York Times, and the Washington Post. He has won over 50 major awards from such organizations as Communication Arts Magazine and the Society of Illustrators. He has been an adjunct professor of art at the University of Arizona, he loves to restore classic cars, he pilots all kinds of airplanes, and he even spent 4 years as a professional stand-up comedian.

PROCESS

I researched the life of the author, including interviews and essays which addressed the author's inspiration for the poem. After I felt I had a good sense of the author's intent, I set about to narrow down my possible subject matter to a classic symbol of American industry in the early 20th century-the Chrysler Building in New York. I wanted to capture the sense of drama, wonder and achievement that was prevalent during that period of American history. But more than an architectural solution was required-I needed to address the human element as well. After many sketches I centered around a quiet moment perched high on one of the steel gargoyles. The solution lay in the juxtaposition of architectural drama and everyday life.

Cocktail Book

For the past 6 months I have been collaborating with an internationally-known NYC mixologist to create an illustrated book of modern mixology. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, it means cocktails. Very sophisticated cocktails. The high-end cocktail scene is exploding in NYC right now, and is spreading quickly around the world. These illustrations are but a fraction of the art I have created for the book, each illustration typically paired with a particular cocktail recipe. I was working with with a limited palette for the unity of the design of the book.

Architect Day: Diller Scofidio + Renfro

Led by the Polish architect Elizabeth Diller and the american Ricardo Scofidio architects and Charles Renfro, the New Yorker studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro gained great reputation for developing projects of great significance to the city. Now have projects in various corners of the world.

Elizabeth Diller was born in Lodz in Poland and was graduated at The Cooper Union of Architecture, Ricardo Scofidio was born in New York City and graduated in architecture from Columbia University, together founded the office a three decades ago. Charles Renfro, a native of Texas, has a degree in architecture from Rice University and his MA at Columbia University, joined the firm in 1997 to become partner in 2004.

Diller Scofidio + Renfro now has more than 60 professionals from different backgrounds. With his studio located in New York, gained reputation by developing projects of great significance to the city, such as civic and cultural works, through a practice that works on design, visual arts and performing arts.

Tron Legacy: Daft Punk's Derezzed Collection

Tron Legacy has really amazed me. I've waited for this movies the whole year and I can say that I wasn't disappointed but thrilled by it, and I totally wanna watch again and again. One of the main reasons is Daft Punk.

I've always loved Daft Punk's music, and since I got to know that they were to score the movie, I got goose bumps. They have succeed to add so much to the Tron universe that it can't even be put to words. Anyways, I'm still astonished by it and can't really stop listening to the songs. Because of that, I went looking for all things Tron, and found some awesome images do Daft Punk inside Tron. These are amazing, and I just know that you all gonna love it. Enjoy! Cheers. ;)

Derez (also spelled as Derezz) is a term to describe someone or something disappearing or dissolving, essentially resulting in deletion. The opposite of derez is Rez.
